Display complete specs ›The EOS 600D is the latest addition to Canon's affordable digital SLR range. It is the successor to the EOS 550D, and sits below the enthusiast-aimed 60D.
Placed alongside the 550D there are very few differences in terms of design. The 600D is slightly taller and wider as a consequence of its new swivel and tilt-capable LCD. There's also a more prominent grip near the model number, which gives you better overall grip. This is useful if you intend to take tricky shots and need to handle the camera in weird angles.
The Canon's 18-megapixel image sensor and tried and tested Digic 4 processor work in harmony to produce great photos. Whether you choose to shoot in RAW or JPEG, images are packed with detail though with the former you get the sense that you get a slight edge in detail. As we've come to expect from Canon's camera range the 600D packs vibrant colours that while not necessarily neutral make images almost jump off the screen. This EOS also packs decent ISO performance in that shooting at high settings still results in great photos though, of course, the best results are seen at the lower ISO settings.
Since Canon has stuck to a proven formula with the design and interface, the EOS 600D is supremely easy to work with. You don't need to be a rocket scientist to take great photos with this SLR.
Verdict: The EOS 600D is a well sorted camera that’s packed to the brim with features, is sensibly priced and easy-to-use.
