The Hercules Series DDR3 2200 memory kit is a dual-channel offering that is designed to work with Intel P55 motherboards. The kit is specified to run at 2200MHz whilst maintaining a CAS latency of 10.
We fitted the modules to our Gigabyte P55A-UD7 motherboard and made a beeline for the BIOS. The kit features just one Extreme Memory Profile (X.M.P) and enabling this set the BIOS up to run the modules at 2208MHz at 1.65volts.
The machine booted without any trouble and to test for long term stability, we ran several benchmarks in continuous loops for a day. We're happy to report that the machine was still running the benchmark loops when we came back a day later.
Not satisfied with the memory's already impressive performance we decided to try and overlock the Hercules Series sticks further. Unfortunately here the modules let us down slightly. We pushed the memory voltage to 1.75volts but despite this we were unable to squeeze much more out of the modules. We were only able to go from the default X.M.P speed of 2208MHz to 2248MHz, a fairly minor overclock.
Verdict: A fairly priced kit that runs at 2200MHz out of the box. It's just a shame you can't get much more from it.
