Right from the off the LG gave us great vibes because the team was quite taken with its attractive design. Our sample featured a smooth, glossy-black frame that gave the LCD a premium feel. We were even more impressed when we found the border is actually quite resistant to fingerprints and smudges.
In the visual performance department the screen continued its strong showing. As a computer screen, the native resolution of 1680 x 1050 pixels helped the monitor produce razor sharp text and detail. Watching movies and flicking through photographs, the monitor's excellent brightness and contrast was apparent as both types of content were incredibly vibrant and very accurate and natural in terms of colour representation.
Watching a few fast paced scenes and playing Forza Motorsport 2, the screen proved quite responsive. The M2294A features a wide-array of inputs and allows you to connect to seven video sources all at once. That said, we suggest LG swap the D-Sub port in favour of another HDMI port, as this would make the screen even more flexible. The only real issues we had then was that the screen's base feels somewhat inexpensive and that its sidefacing buttons are somewhat difficult to use, if you've got the screen in a cabinet.
Verdict
The M2294A performs well visually and seems more expensive than it actually is thanks to its premium finish.
